The USCAA announced their softball All-Americans and Academic All-Americans at the National Softball Championship Tournament in Akron, Ohio.  Penn State Mont Athletics is proud to announce that our softball team brought home awards from the banquet.

Sophomore catcher Laura Dell and sophomore center fielder Helena DeShong both were named USCAA Academic All-Americans.  To receive this award you must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.  Both Dell and DeShong have not only been extremely successful in the classroom but also on the field during the 2011 season.  They are both graduates of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School.  Dell is majoring in Biology while DeShong's major is Business Management and Marketing.

Kristyan Gates, sophomore pitcher for Mont Alto also was also presented with an award.  Gates was named to the USCAA All-American Team for a tremendous winning season on the mound.  She tallied 15 wins and 3 losses in regular season and was the winning pitcher when Mont Alto won the PSUAC Softball Championship.  In nationals, Gates was named player of the game after Mont Alto defeated St. Josephs Brooklyn in the first round of the USCAAs.

Penn State Mont Alto Athletics is very proud of the 2011 Softball team for an impressive season, for winning the PSUAC Championship and making it to the USCAA Championship Tournament for the first time in Mont Alto Softball history.
