Sibert headlines PSUAC award winners with East POTY
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The PSUAC announced its end of season awards for baseball and softball on Thursday afternoon. Baseball centerfielder James Sibert led all award winners for Mont Alto as he was named East Division Player of the Year following a season where he hit 12 home runs and recorded 58 runs batted in while hitting .426 on the year.
Heath Newell was named softball's coach of the year following a 20-9-1 regular season and a tie amongst the top in the PSUAC regular season standings. Alexis Thompson was awarded softball's Rookie of the Year following a season where she went 6-1 with a 6.53 K/7. Joining Sibert on the first team were Carter Fogal (P/DH), Cameron Bailey (C) and Wyatt Kissel (IF). Joshua Sullivan (P), Garrett Worth (P/OF), Justin Horne (IF), Nick Leckert (IF) and Braden Zeger (OF) were all named Honorable Mentions. Caleb Cawthern was awarded the campuses John Fritz Sportsmanship Award.
Sarah Devilbiss (IF), Rachel Alleman (OF) and Kira Weikert (DP) were all named to the first team for softball. Kira Weikert (P), Aiyana Young (C) and Hailey Spielman (IF) were named to the second team. Alexis Thompson (P), Cammble Sterner (IF), Alyssa Wiles (IF), Abigail Cunningham (OF) and Terri Williams (OF) all picked up Honorable Mention. Thompson was also named the campuses John Fritz Sportsmanship Award for softball.
