Game One: Penn State Mont Alto 4, Penn State Scranton 1
DUNMORE, PA- Penn State Mont Alto baseball took on Scranton Sunday afternoon in the conference opener. Carter Fogal started on the hill for Mont Alto and went the distance for Mont Alto, tossing seven innings of one hit ball with seven strikeouts in the 4-1 win. The game remained scoreless until the top of the fifth inning when James Sibert scored Nick Leckert and David Ford on a 2 RBI double.
Scranton would trim the deficit to one run on a wild pitch from Fogal in the bottom of the sixth. Some small ball and Scranton miscues allowed Mont Alto to tack on two more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Fogal allowed only one base runner in the home half of the seventh inning to cut down any rallies.
Game Two: Penn State Mont Alto 7, Penn State Scranton 1
DUNMORE, PA- Joshua Sullivan backed up Fogal's pitching performance in game one with a very similar performance in game two. Sullivan went the distance while striking out seven and allowing just one earned run over 97 pitches. Mont Alto added run support early in the top of the first on a Carter Fogal and Justin Horne RBI single. Mont Alto later extended the lead to six by scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning on four hits. James Sibert, Wyatt Kissel and Cameron Bailey all provided RBI singles in the inning. After Scranton cut the lead to 6-1 in the fourth, Braden Zeger got the run back for Mont Alto with a RBI single in the top half of fifth inning.
