Mont Alto completes regular season series sweep against Scranton
Game One: Penn State Mont Alto 8, Penn State Scranton 2
MONT ALTO, PA- Garrett Worth continued Mont Alto's strong starting pitching stretch as he went seven innings and struck out eight Scranton batters as Mont Alto took game one of the doubleheader by a final of 8-2. The offensive output was balanced by Mont Alto as eight of nine starters registered a hit in the winning effort. Carter Fogal, David Ford and John Copenhaver each recorded hits and Ford and Copenhaver also had two RBI's. Worth kept the Scranton hitters off balance all game as he scattered four hits allowed. Keegan Litts paced the Scranton offense with a 2 for 3 game.
Down 2-1 in the third inning, Mont Alto broke the game open with five runs and four hits. James Sibert started off the inning with a base hit to left field. Braden Zeger singled to advance Sibert to third base. Wyatt Kissel and Carter Fogal recorded back-to-back RBI hits and Cameron Bailey followed that up with a sacrifice fly. Ford and Copenhaver registered the other RBI hits in the inning and the inning ended early as Copenhaver was picked off.
Game Two: Penn State Mont Alto 8, Penn State Scranton 4
MONT ALTO, PA- Ahead 5-4 in the fifth inning, Mont Alto added on some key insurance runs to sweep the season series against Penn State Scranton. In the sixth, Sibert led off the inning with a triple to right field and Zeger followed that up with a double to right center. Wyatt Kissel provided the big hit in the inning which was a 2 run home run to right field.
Elijah White earned the win as he went four innings and allowed four runs on seven hits. Caleb Cawthern came on in relief and earned the save as he went three innings and scatted just two hits.
