Down 3-0, Baseball completes comeback to advance in SCWS
USCAA Small College World Series: #3 Penn State Mont Alto 4, #6 Miami Hamilton 3 (F/8)
DUBOIS, Pa.- Down 3-0 in the fourth inning, Mont Alto baseball found the key moments needed to advance in the Small College World Series with a 4-3 extra inning walk-off win over Miami Hamilton in eight innings. Miami Hamilton built their 3-0 advantage on a Parker Geshan RBI single up the middle in the top of the third inning and a Cooper Sandhaus two RBI single in the fourth inning.
James Sibert led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a triple to right field. He would score on the next play as Braden Zeger reached via error to score the first run for Mont Alto. Batters later, Cameron Bailey recorded his tenth home run of the season to tie the game at 3-3. The game went to extra innings following a scoreless seventh inning.
With the international tie breaker runner in place, Mont Alto was able to escape the top half of the eighth inning allowing zero runs. Wyatt Kissel was intentionally walked to set up a force play situation for Carter Fogal. Fogal reached on a fielder's choice and with two outs Garrett Rosenberry came up to bat. On a 2-1 count, Rosenberry singed with scored pinch runner Kyle Nolan to advance Mont Alto 4-3 to a matchup with #2 Apprentice at 7pm Tuesday night from Showers Field in DuBois, Pa.
Carter Fogal went the distance on the mound, throwing 116 pitches in eight innings of work while striking out seven batters. Jake Westerkamp picked up the loss for the Harriers as he relieved Dale Ellis who pitched the first seven innings.
