Baseball advances to winner's bracket final with 11-6 win over Apprentice
USCAA Small College World Series: #3 Penn State Mont Alto 11, #2 Apprentice 6
DUBOIS, Pa.- After losing to Apprentice four times in the regular season, Penn State Mont Alto got the best of the Builders in the SCWS with an 11-6 win, setting up a rematch of the 2025 USCAA Championship against top seeded Salem Wednesday at 4pm. Wyatt Kissel, Carter Fogal and Garrett Worth each provided long balls in the winning effort as Mont Alto scored in all but one inning.
Mont Alto got on the board early in the first inning as James Sibert and Wyatt Kissel reached base via singles. The next batter Carter Fogal put Mont Alto up 3-0 with a home run to right center. Apprentice added a run as Mont Alto led 3-1 after one inning before adding on three more in the second and third. Justin Horne plated Sibert with an RBI double int the second and Garrett Worth extended the advantage to 6-1 with a solo shot in the third inning.
After a Wyatt Kissel solo home run gave Mont Alto a 7-3 lead in the fourth, Apprentice mounted a comeback effort as a Lucca Pascarella sacrifice fly trimmed the lead to just one at 7-6. Mont Alto would go on to score three more runs in the top of the fifth and one in the six on their way to an 11-6 win over Apprentice.
Joshua Sullivan was pulled after he went three innings at 85 pitches, Elijah White earned the win in long relief going four innings and striking out five batters.
