Late HR lifts Apprentice over Mont Alto 6-4, forces winner take all championship Friday

DUBOIS, Pa.- Penn State Mont Alto baseball took on The Apprentice School with a chance to win the school's first national title on Thursday evening with a win over Apprentice on Thursday. A late Apprentice home run gave the Builders a decisive 6-4 lead which forces a winner take all championship game on Friday at 1pm from Showers Field in DuBois, Pa.
It wouldn't take long for the Builders to gain early momentum. Lucca Pascarella doubled down the right field line to plate Jaedan Anderson and Nate Yeary for an early 2-0 lead. Jackson Thomas scored Landon Turner who reached on a fielding error earlier in the inning on a sacrifice fly to move Apprentice in front 4-0.
Like much of the season, Mont Alto struck back to tie the contest after numerous baserunners in the first few innings. Matthew Echevarria plated Garrett Worth who scored on a Builders miscue. James Sibert later scored John Copenhaver on a RBI double. Justin Horne and Carter Fogal would tie the contest on their RBI singles.
The fifth inning went scoreless until the top of the sixth inning for the Builders. Aidan Walker walked as the second batter of the inning to put a baserunner on. The next batter Isaac McAllister took the first Jayden Bell offering he saw over the 333' sign in center field to put the Builders up 6-4 in the sixth.
Mont Alto failed to mount a comeback in the sixth and seventh as they went 1-2-3 each inning against reliever Aidan Walker.
