Talla's 20-20 effort powers Mont Alto past Pitt-Bradford in OT 100-92

Bradford, Pa.- Mont Alto Men's Basketball started off the new year in a non-conference tilt against NCAA Division III opponent Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon. It took extra time in order to earn the first win of the new year, as Mont Alto outlasted the Panthers 100-92 in overtime. Veron Talla paced the offensive efforts for Mont Alto with a team-high 21 points to go along with 22 rebounds. Vincent Frene scored 19 points on 6 of 13 shooting and 6 of 8 from the line for the Nittany Lions.
Following a Sam Larbi successful layup with 14:10 remaining in the game, Mont Alto found itself down 11 as the Panthers led 56-45 with ten minutes remaining. In the next few minutes, Mont Alto rallied back while finding themselves down one on numerous occasions. A layup by Jonathan Pang gave the visitors the advantage at 68-67 with 6:26 left.
Up 76-73, Richard Burke got a steal from Panthers guard Jeremy Rodriguez and finished a layup to push Mont Alto up five with just two minutes left. Mont Alto was down 81-80 in the games final thirty seconds. On the Panthers final possession of regulation, Xander Norris missed a three pointer and gave Mont Alto the final possession. Richard Burke was fouled on his way to the hoop to shoot two shots. Burke would miss the first and tie the contest on the second. The two teams would go to overtime at 81-81.
Mont Alto would go on to outscore Pitt-Bradford 19-11 in the final frame to win the non-conference tilt.
