Talla awarded Co-Player of the Year, Perez, Kalp named First Team All-PSUAC, Schenzel COTY
The Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference announced their men's and women's basketball award winners last week before the semifinal contests on Friday evening. Veron Talla headlined the award winners for Mont Alto by being named PSUAC East Division Co-Player of the Year. On the season, Talla averaged 17.6 points, 12 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.7 blocks per game. Women's Basketball had two players on the First Team East Division with Dariana Perez and Victoria Kalp earning the honors. Perez led the conference in scoring at 25.1 points per game. She also averaged 9.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 4.4 steals per game. Kalp had a strong second half offensively as she averaged 13.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.7 steals per contest.
Richard Burke (10.3 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 3 APG), Saihou Mbergan (9.5 PPG, 5.7 RPG) and Jonathan Pang (8.1 PPG) rounded out the all-conference team for the men's side, all picking up Honorable Mentions. Shanez Morales (7.3 PPG, 10.2 RPG) was named an Honorable Mention on the Women's side.
Matthew Mondoro and Makayla Barry-Robinson were each named the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award recipients for Mont Alto.
Jack Schenzel picked up his 6th PSUAC Coach of the Year award of his career as Mont Alto went 20-7 overall a year after replacing several key contributors from last season.
