2025-26 WBB Preview
The Mont Alto women's basketball team opens up their 2025-26 campaign today against Frederick C.C.. The Nittany Lions will have a new face on the sideline in Mark Zacher, who spent the last 15 seasons at Norwich in Vermont, where he became the school's all-time winningest coach.
Mont Alto returns most of their production from last season, losing just Honorable Mention in the PSUAC and 4x USCAA Academic All-American Autumn Fischer, who averaged 7 PPG and 7 RPG.
The Mont Alto offensive efforts will be led by Dariana Perez who averaged 18.1 PPG a season ago. Perez also averaged 9.7 RPG and 4.3 APG on her way to earning PSUAC First Team. Second Team PSUAC Shanez Morales is back for her senior season where she averaged 6.9 PPG last season and was a defensive cog for Mont Alto.
Daijah Wallace (4.9 PPG), Brooklyn Merryman (4.7), Amelia Fouch (4.6) and Makayla Barry-Robinson (1.2) round out the rest of the returning lineup for Coach Zacher. The team will look to continue momentum off of last season in a year in which they went 10-8 in the PSUAC, bowing out in the first round of the playoffs to Penn State York.
