Late comeback effort falls short in WBB loss to DuBois 57-47
Women's Basketball: Penn State DuBois 57, Penn State Mont Alto 47
DuBois, Pa.- Mont Alto women's basketball hung tough for most of Saturday's contest with conference foe Penn State DuBois, but ultimately fell short in the comeback effort as DuBois took control of the fourth quarter and won 57-47. The loss puts Mont Alto at 7-5 overall and 6-3 in the PSUAC.
Dariana Perez led the offense for Mont Alto with 20 points but was stymied at times by the DuBois defense shooting just 5 of 20 from the field. She was efficient at the free throw line by shooting 10 of 12. Victoria Kalp chipped in 12 points going 4 of 9 from the field and Brooklynn Merryman scored nine off the bench to go along with five boards.
Eden Wonderling was the leading scorer for the home squad scoring 19 points and swiping two steals. Rebecca Martin (15) and Natalie Bowser (10) joined her in double-digit scoring for DuBois.
The game was tied heading into the final period at 42-42 before DuBois outscored Mont Alto 15-5 in the final frame. Mont Alto shot 2 of 15 (13.3%) including 0 for 4 from deep in the final ten minutes.
