HAZLETON, Pa.- Mont Alto women's basketball took on Hazleton Tuesday evening in PSUAC action. Dariana Perez scored a career-high 40 points on 11 of 20 shooting and 15 of 17 from the line to go along with 14 rebounds as Mont Alto improved to 9-5 overall and 8-3 in the PSUAC with a 73-49 win.
After taking a 35-29 lead into the break, Mont Alto outscored Hazleton 38-20 in the final two quarters to pull ahead. Perez hit a three on the first possession of the second half to push Mont Alto ahead 38-29 befoe Bry'yasia Izetta Monea Costen cut the lead back to six on a three of her own. Mont Alto followed up that basket by Hazleton with a 14-0 run, ballooning the lead to 52-32.
Lamarsha Wilson converted on the second of two free throws in the midway point of the fourth quarter to trim the deficit to 53-45. Mont Alto put the game out of reach over the next three minutes, going on a 9-0 run to move ahead 62-45. Mont Alto went on to win 73-49 to maintain control of the two seed in the PSUAC East Division.
