Women's Basketball: Penn State Mont Alto 68, Penn State Scranton 32
MONT ALTO, Pa.- Mont Alto women's basketball took on Scranton Wednesday evening on senior night and the regular season finale. Dariana Perez scored a game-high 32 points on 13 of 18 shooting and Victoria Kalp and Shanez Morales each chipped in 13 in the 68-32 win over Scranton. The win moved Mont Alto to 12-7 overall and 10-4 in the PSUAC.
With the game tied 4-4 early, Mont Alto went on a 8-0 spurt to move ahead 12-4 on a steal and a layup by Perez. Mont Alto forced a missed shot by Karma Paez and Shanez Morales grabbed the rebound and Perez added in a layup to push Mont Alto ahead 18-7 after one period.
Inayah Muhammad cut the deficit to six at 20-14 with 5:25 on a three pointer assisted by Paez. Mont Alto quickly responded with a 7-0 run of their own to move ahead 27-14. At 30-17 with a minute remaining, the home squad closed out the half with back-to-back buckets by Victoria Kalp and a layup by Morales to go into the break up 38-17.
The Mont Alto defense continued strong in the second half, holding Scranton to 15% shooting in the third quarter and 14% in the fourth on their way to a 68-32 win. Perez scored 13 of her 32 points in the second half.
