Mark Zacher enters his first season as the Head Coach of the Penn State Mont Alto women’s basketball program during the 2025-26 academic year.

 

Zacher comes to Mont Alto with a combined 26 years of coaching experience at many different levels of collegiate basketball. From 1998-2008 he served as an Assistant Coach at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD. The following year, he was the Associate Head Coach at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, FL. Zacher spent the last 15 seasons at NCAA Division III Norwich University in Northfield, VT as the school’s Head Coach.

 

While Zacher was at Mount St. Mary’s, the team compiled a 109-79 overall record in NEC competition, winning two NEC regular season titles.

 

During his time at Norwich, Zacher was the longest tenured and the all-time winningest women’s basketball coach in the school’s history, eclipsing 182 wins over his 15 seasons. His best season was 2014-15 in which the Cadets went 22-6.  

 

He is a 1980 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
