Volleyball drops to York in four sets
Women's Volleyball: Penn State York 3, Penn State Mont Alto 1 (26-24, 18-25, 18-25, 21-25)
MONT ALTO, Pa.- Penn State Mont Alto volleyball hosted Penn State York on Thursday evening in a matchup of undefeated teams in PSUAC play. After a highly contested first set which Mont Alto took 26-24, Penn State York controlled most of the match and took the last three sets. Penn State Mont Alto falls to 3-5 overall and 2-1 in the PSUAC with the loss.
With the first set tied 24-24, Mont Alto was able to regain serve on a service error by Madison Stare. Mont Alto forced an attack error on Gracie Reinhart to take the first set 26-24. Penn State York went an efficient .258 hitting percentage in set two, holding Mont Alto to 11 kills on 32 attacks (.094) to take the second set 25-18. The third set would see Penn State York win 25-18 behind a .333 team hitting percentage, finalizing 20 kills on 45 attack attempts.
Mont Alto seized early momentum in set four pushing a 7-6 lead to 14-7 and up to 17-9. On Hannah Spence's service, Shanez Morales recorded an attacking error which completed a York comeback, tying the set at 21-21. York went on to take the next four points to win the set 25-21, Kira Eisenberg (2) and Olivia Giltner provided the kills in the final points.
