After a streak without a win, the Mont Alto Women's Basketball team came through and defeated Schuylkill for their first victory of the year.
It was a group effort on the court from the lady lions to secure the win. After a low scoring first half, both teams went into the break with 17 points each. The next half was where Mont Alto took the lead and never looked back. Ayanna Hall was in foul trouble at the beginning of the game but came in strong after halftime scoring 19 points. Hall was 5 for 7 from the free throw line and 8 for 9 from the field. Alexis Small had her third game with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Aaliyah Daniels came off the bench strong shooting 4 for 6 from the field and 100% from the outside the arch. Daniels also contributed 11 points towards Mont Alto's 49-39 win.
"It was a tremendous team effort, we were able to hold Schuylkill and play two great halves," Coach Donna Davis comments. "It was terrific to get a win. All these young ladies who started tonight are freshmen and this is something we are planning to build on." We are very proud and looking forward to the rest of the season," Davis adds.
The ladies will travel to Christendom College on December 5th for a 7:00 p.m. game.
